Business and choosing a partner
A software studio in Jalisco, Mexico building for the world
What it means to build apps and custom systems from a small city in Jalisco for clients in Mexico, the US and Canada. Where we are and how we work.

When people hear that a software studio works from a small city in Mexico, they usually picture a cheap outsourcing shop. tēo studio is not that, and this article exists to explain what it actually is, where we work from, and why building from here for clients in Mexico, the United States and Canada is not a compromise but a choice.
We are in Tepatitlán de Morelos, in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, about an hour from Guadalajara. We design and build iOS apps and custom business systems for companies in our region, in Guadalajara, and abroad. Working for clients in other countries is not a marketing line: it is the proof that software of the standard any company expects can be built from here.
Where we are
Jalisco is one of Mexico's main technology hubs. Guadalajara, the state capital, has decades of electronics and software industry behind it, a large pool of engineers and designers, and direct flights to several cities in the United States. Tepatitlán is an hour east of it, in a region known for its agricultural industry, its family-owned companies and a work culture built around getting things done.
For a client in Texas, California, Ontario or Quebec, what matters in practice is this: we work on Mexico's central time, which is zero to two hours from any city in the US or Canada outside Alaska and Hawaii. Your morning is our morning. Your afternoon is our afternoon. I am available during your office hours, and a visit is a same-day flight away.
What we build
Three kinds of things. Custom systems that run a business: inventory, orders, sales, production, logistics, billing, all connected and running in the cloud. iOS apps, both consumer products and field tools for teams on the move. And custom online stores for businesses that have outgrown a rented platform.
The clients we fit best share a profile: they have a real operation that today runs on spreadsheets, chat threads or off-the-shelf software that no longer fits, and they want something built for how they actually work. Many of them come to us after trying a large agency or a distant outsourcing vendor and finding that neither understood their business.
A studio does not get better by being in a bigger city. It gets better by understanding the business it builds for.
How we work
tēo studio is a small senior studio. That has a consequence clients notice immediately: you talk directly to the person who designs and builds your product, from start to finish. There is no salesperson, no account manager, no execution team receiving diluted instructions. Strategy, design and development are led by the same person, from day one. Why that produces more than a large team is something we explain in why you no longer need a 15-person team to build software.
In practice, a project with us looks like this:
| Stage | What happens | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Understand | We look at how your business operates today, on site when possible | A clear scope for the first version, with timeline and budget |
| Design | We define the flow and the screens with your team, before building | A prototype you can tap and correct |
| Build | We develop in short cycles, with frequent demos | The working system, in pieces, from the first weeks |
| Launch | We migrate your data and train your team | Your operation running on the new system, without stopping |
| Support | Adjustments and improvements as the business changes | A system that grows with you, with the code under your name |
That last point is not a detail: the code, the data and every account are yours from day one, always. How the work is organized adapts to you: a technical team gets the repository directly; a non-technical client gets closer support. You do not depend on the studio to keep operating, and that is exactly what makes the relationship one of trust rather than dependence.
Why building from here works
There are reasons that hold up beyond the pitch.
The cost structure. The cost of living in a city like Tepatitlán is lower than in Guadalajara, and far lower than in any major US or Canadian city. That shows in our rates without showing in the work. Senior work here costs what junior work costs in your market, and there is no need to cut corners to make the numbers work.
The focus. A small city means fewer distractions and a studio that stays. The person who starts your project is the person who finishes it and supports it a year later.
The proximity, both ways. We serve businesses we can drive to, and clients we fly to. Working with the farm or the distributor down the road keeps us grounded in how real operations work. Working with clients abroad keeps us at the standard those clients expect. Each side makes the other better.
The language and the time zone. I work directly in English. Calls, documents, demos and code are in English for US and Canadian clients, during their office hours. The full picture of how that works is in nearshore software development from Mexico.
What to expect if you work with us
A clear scope before any commitment, with a timeline and budget that do not change without a conversation: if your priorities shift, we re-estimate the effort together before applying the change. A design phase before development, so what gets built is what was decided. Demos of the working product on a cadence we set together, usually every two weeks, not progress reports. A repository, accounts and store listings under your company's name from day one. And someone who tells you when something is not a good idea, because that is what a partner does.
If you are comparing studios, the questions worth asking any of them, us included, are in how to choose a software development studio. We are comfortable answering every one of them.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with clients outside Mexico?
Yes. We work with companies in the United States and Canada, on their schedule and in their language, alongside our clients in Jalisco and the rest of Mexico.
Can I visit the studio?
Yes. Guadalajara has direct flights from several US cities, and Tepatitlán is about an hour from the airport by road. For long projects, meeting in person at the start does a lot for the relationship.
What size of company do you work with?
Companies with a real operation that need software built for them: from a family business that has outgrown its tools to a mid-sized company with several locations. What matters is not the size but that there is a process that hurts today and is worth solving.
How is the contract and invoicing handled?
A clear scope with a fixed price, invoices in US dollars for clients abroad, and payment by wire or ACH. An NDA and an intellectual property assignment are available before we start if you prefer them.
At tēo studio we build from Tepatitlán, Jalisco for companies anywhere, with senior design and development, no intermediaries, and one standard for every client. If you have a product or a system in mind and want to know what working with us from your city would look like, tell us about it and we will walk you through it.
