Privacy Policy — dee jay

Your music library. With your permission, dee jay reads the songs in your Music app so it can list them, sort them and analyze them. It reads only; it never modifies, deletes or uploads anything.

Local copies of your tracks. iOS does not allow an audio engine to play directly from the Music library, so dee jay makes a copy of a track inside its own private storage before playing it. These copies never leave your device and you can delete all of them at any time from Settings → Library → Clear analysis and copies.

BPM and key analysis. Tempo and key are computed on your device. The results are stored locally alongside your library. No audio and no analysis data is ever transmitted anywhere.

Microphone permission — and why the app never records. iOS only exposes every channel of a USB audio interface to an app that declares itself capable of recording. That is the sole reason dee jay asks for microphone access: without it, iOS will not open the four output channels the app needs to send each deck to its own mixer channel. dee jay never reads microphone input and never captures, stores or transmits audio. If you decline the permission the app still works; you simply get a single stereo output instead of one channel per deck.

Nothing. dee jay has no servers to send data to. We do not collect personal information, usage statistics, crash reports, advertising identifiers or device identifiers. We do not use analytics or advertising services. We do not track you across apps or websites. There is nothing to sell, and we sell nothing.

dee jay is sold as an auto-renewing subscription processed entirely by Apple. Your payment details, name and Apple Account are handled by Apple and are never shared with us. From Apple we receive only aggregated, anonymous sales reports that cannot identify any individual. Apple’s handling of your data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

dee jay is not directed to children under 13, and collects no data from anyone regardless of age.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Since the app collects no data, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a change in practice.
